How it works

How Website Sales by Owner works

This is a classifieds noticeboard. We do not broker, escrow, auction, or take a cut of any sale.
  1. 1

    Owner lists the site

Title, screenshots, asking price, what transfers, and any revenue or traffic figures. Listing is free.

  2. 2

    Admin review

Ads from other sellers await admin approval before appearing publicly. The operator manages its own inventory directly. Evidence notes may be marked reviewed. That means looked at, not audited.

  3. 3

    Buyer writes in

Inquiries go into the seller’s private inbox here with the buyer’s reply address. Nothing is emailed by us.

  4. 4

    You two do the deal

Calls, due diligence, payment and transfer happen directly between buyer and seller, using tools you both trust.

  5. 5

    Seller marks it sold

The listing shows as sold and inquiries close.

What we do not do

  • Hold or process purchase payments
  • Act as broker or agent
  • Run auctions or bidding
  • Verify or guarantee seller figures

Optional Featured placement

Basic ads remain free. The approved Featured price is $19, but duration and configuration are unresolved. Paid featured checkout is not available and live payments are disabled. Featuring never bypasses moderation.

Website classifieds: common questions

Is posting a website ad free?
Yes. A basic ad is free. Owners of websites can create an account, verify their email, submit an ad, edit it and mark an approved ad sold. Ads submitted by other sellers require admin approval before appearing publicly.
Who operates this site?
Website Sales by Owner operates this classifieds noticeboard and lists its own websites alongside ads from other owners. Operator inventory is labeled “Sold by us.” This is not an auction, brokerage or website purchase checkout.
How do I contact the seller?
Open an active ad and use Contact Seller. Your inquiry and reply email go to that seller’s private account inbox, not a public comment section. Buyers and sellers discuss due diligence, payment and transfer directly.
What does Make an Offer do?
An ad defaults to Price firm unless its seller chooses Open to offers. On an active open-to-offers ad, a signed-in buyer with a verified email can send a positive offer and optional short message privately to the seller. This is a non-binding inquiry: it does not reserve or buy the website and does not charge anyone. Firm or sold ads do not accept offers.
What is the difference between starter and established sites?
Starter ads report no revenue. Established ads report positive monthly revenue supplied by the seller. Traffic and revenue are seller-reported; an evidence status of reviewed means an admin looked at supplied notes, not that the figures were audited or guaranteed. Buyers should perform their own checks.
How much does Featured placement cost?
Basic ads remain free. The owner-approved price for optional Featured placement is $19, but its duration and configuration are not finalized and paid featured checkout is not available. Live payments are disabled. When offered, paid placement will be clearly labeled and time-limited; it does not bypass moderation.
Is hosting included?
Only operator-owned ads that explicitly offer optional hosting include a hosting service offer. Read that ad’s separate price, inclusions and exclusions. Hosting is not automatically included with a website purchase or promised for other sellers’ websites.
